OffPeak Privacy Policy

OffPeak shows you live and day-ahead electricity prices so you can use power when it’s cheap. It’s built to be private by default: there are no accounts, we don’t sell your data, and we collect as little as possible. This policy explains what OffPeak accesses and why.

What we collect

Almost nothing. Showing electricity prices doesn’t require knowing who you are. OffPeak does not require an account, and it does not collect your name, email, or phone number to function.

Saved on your device. Your settings — the utility/region you follow, your alert thresholds, and display preferences — are stored on your device so the app remembers them between visits. They are not tied to an identity on our servers.

Price alerts & notifications. If you enable price alerts, the app needs notification permission to tell you when prices cross your threshold. Your threshold settings stay on your device; granting or denying notifications is always your choice.

Electricity pricing data

To show prices, OffPeak makes requests to ComEd’s public hourly pricing program (and, over time, other utilities’ public pricing feeds). These requests fetch general market prices for a region — they do not include your identity or account number, and OffPeak is not connected to your utility account or meter.

Analytics & crash data

If OffPeak includes basic, privacy-respecting analytics or crash reporting, it is used only to understand aggregate usage and to fix bugs, and is never used to identify you personally. Where the platform requires it, this is disclosed in the app’s store listing data-safety section.

What we do not collect

• No account, email, phone number, or password.
• No connection to your utility account, meter, or actual usage.
• No advertising identifiers or ad tracking.
• No selling of personal data.

Children

OffPeak is a general-audience utility app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

You control notification permission in your device settings and can turn alerts off at any time. You can clear your saved settings by clearing the app’s data or uninstalling it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of OffPeak after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
